In 2020, I released the audio for my book, The Good Daughter, and was never happy with how it turned out, mostly the quality of the audio. At the time, I was working in a not so good space using not so good equipment, but I was determined to do this. I had wanted to get into voice over way back in my college days but was told that they mostly wanted male voices, not female ones, and I believed them so I just put the idea out of my head. Fast forward to 2016 and I’m in a better area with a lot of better things so I put the idea of doing VO back in my head. Going from stage to a booth was a huge learning curve or unlearning curve as what I learned in school couldn’t really be applied to being in a vocal booth. For one, I could use my natural voice instead of my stage voice where I had to project to the back row of a theatre.

So, while I was dealing with my health, I needed something to do so my brain wouldn’t eat itself. On the good days, I re-recorded my book. It wasn’t easy because I was sick and the inconsistent schedule drove me nuts, but in the end, I produced an audiobook with better audio quality and hopefully a better performance. Here are the two different first chapters.

The Good Daughter, 2026 version:

The Good Daughter audiobook is (or should be) available on most retail outlets and in libraries through OverDrive and Hoopla, perhaps Libby (not sure).
